–The Victoria Royals scored a pair of goals shorthanded in a 6-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars in front of a crowd of 2,852 at CN Centre. The Royals tallied twice in each period to get a split of the double-header. P.G. won the Friday game 3-2. The 11-9 Cougars continue their 8-game home-stand Friday and Saturday against the league-leading Kelowna Rockets.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings tallied three unanswered goals in the second period, two of them by Jake LeBrun, in a 4-3 win over the Merritt Centennials. Chad Staley notched three assists for the 12-6-0-2 Spruce Kings who won on the road for the second consecutive night. Prince George began the trip with a 5-3 victory Friday in Trail. The Spruce Kings play today in West Kelowna before hosting Vernon Wednesday.

–Justin Almeida scored four goals and added an assist as the (12-2-1) Cariboo Cougars crushed the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds 8-1. The same teams have a rematch this afternoon at 1:15 at CN Centre.

–The PG Female Midget Northern Cougars outcored the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers for the second straight day to improve their first place record to 15-2. The Cougars won 4-2 Saturday after a 7-1 win Friday. The teams meet again today (8:45am) at the PG Coliseum.

–The TRU Wolfpack of Kamloops swept a Canada West basketball double-header over the UNBC Timberwolves in their first regular season games of the season. Both the men’s games were decided by just four points while both of the women’s games were lopsided. TRU won 85-81 Saturday and 84-80 Friday in men’s action and
82-39 Saturday and 85-55 Friday in women’s action. UNBC will visit Fraser Valley Friday and Saturday before its home openers against Mount Royal November 21st and 22nd.
