New rules are coming into effect for owners of ATV’s, snowmobiles and dirt bikes.
As of today, owners of ATV’s, snowmobiles and dirt bikes will have to register their toys with ICBC and pay a one time $48 fee.
License plates and decals will be a part of the plan to add BC’s $200,000 off road vehicles to a province wide data base.
BC had fallen behind other provinces in registration of off road vehicles. The lack of registration up until now has caused BC to become known as a dumping ground for stolen ATV’s across North America.
For now registration is voluntary. Beginning in June it will be mandatory.
