Devils storm back to dump Bandits, claim Game 3 of PG Senior Lacrosse Final

It appears no lead is safe when the Westwood Pub Devils and RPR Mechanical/JR Construction Bandits play one another.

Game Three of the Prince George Senior Lacrosse League Final was no exception on Monday as the Devils erased a 6-2 first-period deficit and clawed back for an 8-7 victory at Kin 1.

It looked as if the Bandits had the game well in hand in the opening frame as Cole Paciejewski, who is fresh of the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships suiting up for Team Scotland, lit the lamp along with his teammate Drew Doig a combined three times to put his team ahead.

However, the sizeable lead was short-lived as the Devils blitzed the Bandits for five unanswered goals past netminder Liam Miller giving them a 7-6 advantage after 40 minutes.

Westwood forward Andrew Schwab scored four times in the win but says it was the play of their unsung heroes like Nathaniel McFayden, Adam Wagner and Adam Moleski who made the difference.

“They are great out there you need guys like that who can get you the ball and both of them (McFayden and Wagner) are unreal on loose balls in the corner and without them, no one is scoring out there.”

Jamie Bellamy shut the door in goal for the Devils in the second and third period only allowing one Bandits marker to help preserve the victory including a shot off the cross bar from Jesse Huffman.

Tempers flared once again at the final buzzer as Devils forward Tanner Thomsen finished a check on Paciejewski leading to meeting of the minds at centre court.

“Well I think if you played three games against a team you’re bound to get a little chippy and we had a bit of a late hit on their best player so they answered the bell.”

Huffman, Steven Kidwell, and Patrick Griffiths also scored in defeat for the Bandits.

Westwood leads the best-of-five series 2-1 with Game 4 set for Wednesday at 8PM from Kin 1.
