The new Masich Place Stadium is set to open Tuesday with the base public walking hours being from 6am to 9pm.
These times come after backlash from the community about the originally proposed public hours, which were seen as too short.
Mayor Lyn Hall says schedules will be put out on a weekly basis on various social media platforms.
“Our website is part of that and we’ll get the information out as to what the schedule looks like because it may be somewhat different if there is an organization that has rented that particular facility for a period of time in one day, so we will be specific throughout that individual day as to the hours of walking,” continues Hall, saying the facility will be well-supervised for safety.
“We are going to have staff there at the facility during the opening hours because it’s a facility now that requires staffing to provide various needs to anybody who’s using it whether that be rental groups or people just out walking the track.”
Hall says the public feedback and teamwork, ranging from letters, a petition, and the two dozen residents who attended the public meeting for the issue, is much appreciated by all of council and the City.
