Grand opening of BMX track in Prince George

BMX enthusiasts can rejoice as the upgrades to the track at Carrie Jane Gray Park have been completed.

Local businesses chipped in and donated an money for a new design involving a new start gate with an estimated worth of $200,000.

Corrie Aderson, President of the Supertrak BMX Club in Prince Geroge, says it’s been a long process to get the track up and running.

“There have been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. We started back in Aprilish, moving snow and getting it prepped. Built the track in May and the start hill has been going along until now.”

Anderson extended a thank you to the community because, without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.

“We had all of our sponsors. The City gave us money. It’s been overwhelming almost and just unbelievable. We couldn’t have done it without them.”

This is the furthest BMX track in the north and it will allow the club to host a national event. Anderson added they are looking to install a roof over the new gate to help during the winter time.

Today, the club hosted a fundraiser with all money going towards the BC Children’s Hospital.
