–The Regina Pats jumped out to a 3-0 lead and went on to a 5-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars before 2,316 fans at CN Centre. Rookie goalie Tavin Grant was pulled 27 minutes into the game after stopping 10 of 13 shots. He was replaced by Ty Edmonds. Both teams finished with 32 shots on goal. The 13-14 Cougars remain 8th in the Western Conference, a point behind Kamloops and Portland and two back of Tri-City. The Cats are 0-14 when allowing four or more and 13-0 when allowing three or less. The Cougars next game will be on Wednesday when they host the Prince Albert Raiders.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings are 1-1 on an 8-game home-stand that continues Friday and Saturday against the 9-13-1-4 Coquitlam Express. The 15-10-0-2 Spruce Kings lead the BCHL Mainland Division by a point over the Chilliwack Chiefs and two over the Langley Rivermen. Chilliwack has 3 games in hand on P.G.

–The 15-2-1 Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars entertain the 13-4-1 Okanagan Rockets Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 11:30am at Kin 1. Okanagan is tied for 2nd with the Vancouver North West Giants, 4 points back of the Cougars.

–Cariboo has the top two scorers in the BCMML. Austin Gray has 34 points (18G, 16A) and he is followed by Steven Jandric with 32 points (9G, 23A). Colton Thomas is 5th with 28 points (15 G, 13A).

–The Prince George Coast Inn Midget Tier 1 Cougars host their annual tournament starting Friday morning at the Kin Centre and Coliseum. Six teams compete in the round robin with the final Sunday at 12:30 at Kin 3.

–Seven Prince George high school volleyball teams are competing at the Provincials. The D.P. Todd and College Heights Double A Boys and PGSS Triple A Boys are in Langley. In the opening day round robin which is used for seeding, College Heights went 2-1 and D.P. Todd 0-3. On the Triple A side PGSS was 1-2.
Meanwhile, the College Heights and Duchess Park Triple A Girls are in Parksville, the D.P. Todd Double A Girls are in Mill Bay and the Cedars Christian Single “A” Girls are in Kelowna with action to begin today.

–Prince George Inner City boxers Kenny Lally and Jag Seehra will fight Saturday at the Golden Gloves in Cloverdale. Lally, a five-time Golden Gloves champion, competes in the 56 Kilos division while Seehra, a four-time GC champ, is entered in 69 Kilos.
