Connolly gets his ring

For the first time, Brett Connolly and the Washington Capitals will get to raise a banner tonight.

The Stanley Cup champions will be saluted in a special ceremony prior to their home opener against the Boston Bruins.

The Cup will be on the ice for the banner ceremony.

The 26-year-old Connolly of Prince George is expected to replace the suspended Tom Wilson on the Caps top line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Connolly is playing for a new head coach as assistant Todd Reirden moved up after Barry Trotz left to coach the New York Islanders.
