Zach Pochiro scored the Teddy Bear goal shorthanded late in the first period and later added the game winner on a power play in the third as the Prince George Cougars won their third straight, 4-3 over the Saskatoon Blades before 4,800 fans at CN Centre. Pochiro added an assist to give him 11 points (including 5 goals) in 8 games since re-joining the team. Chase Witala notched a goal and an assist and Brad Morrison also tallied for the Cougars, who lost captain Sam Ruopp in the first period after he was given a kneeing major and game misconduct for a hit on Nick Zajac. The Cougars are 16-15, including a 16-0 mark when allowing three or less goals. Prince George is 8-0 in one goal games. The (7-22-3) Blades have lost eight in a row (0-6-2).

–The P.G. Cougars visit Everett Friday and Spokane Saturday before they host Spokane December 16 and 17.

–The Lethbridge Hurricanes became the 3rd WHL team this season to fire their coach. The (6-19-3-1) Hurricanes, who are last in the league, sacked Drake Berehowsky.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings have just two home games remaining in 2014. The Spruce Kings entertain Merritt Friday and Cowichan Valley Saturday at the Coliseum.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars (19-2-1) put a 10-game winning streak on the line when they host the (3-15-4) North Island Silvertips Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at Kin 1. Cariboo has the 3 of the top 5 scorers in the BCMML. Austin Gray is 1st with 39 points (21G, 18A) while Colton Thomas (17G, 16A) and Steven Jandric (9G, 24A) are tied for 4th with 33 points.
