Gauthier to play for Team Cherry or Team Orr in NHL Prospects Game

The Prince George Cougars will be represented in the 24th annual NHL Top Prospects Game Wednesday, January 23rd, in Red Deer.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier is one of 40 CHL players (16 from the WHL) named to the roster.

The players will be divided into Team Cherry and Team Orr by NHL Central Scouting prior to the event.

The 17-year-old Gauthier has a 7-12-1-1 record, to go along with a 3.36 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .892 save-percentage (SV%) this season.

Gauthier has been rated a “B” prospect by Central Scouting, meaning he is a projected 2nd or 3rd round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Ty Edmonds was the last Cougars goaltender selected to play in the CHL / NHL Top Prospects game, as he suited up for Team Cherry in 2014.

Other former Cougars to recently play in the game are Nikita Popugaev (2017) and Jansen Harkins (2015).
