Silvertips extend streak at Cougars expense

The Everett Silvertips crushed the Prince George Cougars 6-1 to increase their point streak to 16 games (14-0-1-1).

In addition, it was the ninth straight home victory for the Western Conference leaders.

There was little drama as the (29-7-1-1) Silvertips built up period leads of 3-0 and 5-1 before 7,267 fans Saturday night in Everett.

Ryan Schoettler scored the only goal for Prince George and it came on a power play with the Cats trailing 4-0.

Both Martin Fasko-Rudas and Jackson Berezowski tallied twice each and defenceman Artyom Minulin chipped in with three assists for the Silvertips.

It was the first of four meetings between the two teams.

The Cougars, who have dropped 10 of their last 12, visit the Kamloops Blazers tonight at 5:00.

The Blazers lost 2-1 Saturday night in Kelowna.

The 12-20-1-2 Cougars are two points behind (13-17-2-1) Kamloops for the second and final wild-card spot.
