–The Prince George Spruce Kings picked up a point but lost their final game in 2014. The Coquitlam Express beat the Spruce Kings 5-4 in double overtime. The 18-14-0-4 Spruce Kings resume action on January 3rd when they host the Nanaimo Clippers.

–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars win streak is up to 13 games. The Cougars whipped the Greater Vancouver Canadians 5-1 in the first of a double-header on the Lower Mainland.

-–The Prince George based Northern Cougars female midget hockey team beat the visiting Vancouver Island Hurricanes twice on Saturday. Scores were 3-1 and 6-2.

–A favorable result for Megan Heinicke of Prince George at a Biathlon World Cup race in Pokljuka, Slovenia. The 26-year-old Heinicke placed 14th out of 57 in the women’s 10 km Pursuit.

–The Duchess Park Condors led the way at its own Christmas Classic senior basketball tournaments. Duchess took the senior boys title with a 65-60 win over D.P. Todd and the provincially top-ranked Condors went 3-0 in senior girls action.
