–Coleman Vollrath blocked 38 shots for the shutout to lead the Victoria Royals to a 4-0 triumph over the Prince George Cougars. The Royals scored all four goals in the second period to get a split of the double-header on the Island. Prince George won the Saturday game 4-3. The 18-19 Cougars play Tuesday in Kelowna, Friday in Vancouver and Saturday in Kelowna before hosting Tri-City Jan 6th and 7th.

–The Cariboo Cougars are 1-1 at the Mac’s Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary. The Cougars followed an opening day 6-3 win over Lethbridge with a 4-2 loss against the Calgary North Stars.

–The Prince George based Northern Cougars female midget hockey team is also at the Mac’s in Calgary. The Northern Cougars are 0-2, dropping a pair of one goal games. They lost 1-0 to St Albert and 4-3 to the Westmen Wildcats.

–Alyssa Connell of Prince George (and her rink of Third Bailey Eberherr, Second Jordan Henson and Lead Erin Ross) competes this week at the Provincial Junior Women’s Curling Championship in Parksville. Eight teams are entered with play beginning Monday.
