–The Prince George Cougars blew a 4-1 lead in the second period and lost 5-4 to the Vancouver Giants. The Giants scored with just seven seconds left in the 2nd period and added two more goals in the third, including the winner with 3:19 left. Chase Witala tallied twice on the power play for the 19-20 Cougars who conclude a five game road trip tonight (Saturday) in Kelowna before hosting Tri-City Tuesday and Wednesday.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings play their first game in 2015 when they entertain the Nanaimo Clippers tonight at the Coliseum. Nanaimo is coming off a 2-1 (Friday) victory in Chilliwack. The 18-14-0-4 Spruce Kings are in 3rd place in the BCHL Mainland Division. The 25-11-0-1 Clippers lead the Island Division.

–The Cariboo Cougars get the weekend off after returning home from Calgary where they won the Mac’s Midget International Triple A Hockey Tournament. The Cougars edged Regina 2-1 in double overtime in the final.

–Alyssa Connell of Prince George (and her rink of Third Bailey Eberherr, Second Jordan Henson and Lead Erin Ross) finished with a record of 1-6 at the eight-team Provincial Junior Women’s Curling Championship in Parksville.

–The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club hosts the first 2015 Teck BC Cup at Otway Nordic Centre today and Sunday. 200 skiers from around the province are expected to participate. This event (sanctioned by Cross Country Canada) will use the same courses and facilities that will be used for the 2015 Canada Winter Games cross country ski races being held during the last week of February.
