The Prince George Cougars have a new goalie as they have signed 18-year-old Patrick Gora to a Standard WHL Player Agreement. In 24 games this season in the AJHL with the Camrose Kodiaks, Gora (5’11”, 195 pounds) has compiled a 19-4-1-0 record with a 1.98 GAA and .922 save percentage to go along with a league high 5 shutouts.
Gora has joined the Cougars in Victoria for their double-header tonight and Saturday against the Royals.

–The PG Cougars have acquired the CHL Rights to 17-year-old forward Brogan O’Brien from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 20-year-old forward Chance Braid. O’Brien is playing this season with the Prince George Spruce Kings
and has been selected to play in the CJHL Prospects Game in Oakville, Ontario on January 20. O’Brien is one of 12 BCHL players that will suit up for Team West.
In 35 games with the Cougars this season, Braid scored eight goals, five assists and 42 penalty minutes. With this move, the Cougars roster now sits at 25 players: 14 forwards, eight defenceman and three goaltenders.

–Josh Connolly makes his PG Cougars debut this evening. The former Cariboo Cougar is the 6th highest scoring defenceman in the WHL with 34 points in 39 games. He was acquired from Kamloops for another 19 year old blue-liner Marc McNulty.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings (who have dropped their last three) are in the Okanagan for three weekend games. They play tonight in Vernon, Saturday in Salmon Arm and Sunday in Penticton. The 18-15-0-4 Spruce Kings are 3rd in the BCHL Mainland Division, 5 points behind Langley and 6 back of Chilliwack. The next home game for the Spruce Kings will be played on Thursday against Salmon Arm.

–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars host the Vancouver NE Chiefs Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 8:30am at Kin 1. The Cougars are 22-3-1 while the 4th place Chiefs sit 15-8-3.

–The UNBC Timberwolves are back on the court in Canada West basketball. The Twolves visit the MacEwan Griffins tonight and Saturday. The Timberwolves first home games of 2015 will be against TRU Friday, January 16th (6 and 8pm) and 17th (5 and 7pm). Both the UNBC and MacEwan men are 3-5. The Lady T-wolves are 1-7 while the MacEwan women are 6-2.
