Every day just another day of searching for mother of missing Prince George teen

It will be one year since Colten Fleury’s mother has seen him.

On May 3rd, 2018, the 16 year old Prince George teen left his mother’s home in the morning and has since become a missing person. For his mother, the anniversary brings with it complicated emotions.

“It’s a lot of anxiety,” said Colten’s mother, Phyllis Fleury to MyPGNow.

“Some days are down, some days are way up. The only time I feel normal and happy is when I’m out there looking for him.”

For her, the date is just another day in a long string of days searching for her missing child, “I just get up in the morning, my meaning for life is looking for my son. I couldn’t even work you know. I pretty much have to live alone, because a lot of bitterness comes out at times. That’s the only way I can explain it.”

“But I am really glad because of the date that people are thinking about it and doing something.”

An awareness walk for Colten is taking place tomorrow beginning at 12:00 pm from the Civic Centre and branching out into downtown.

Fleury has been travelling to Vancouver’s downtown eastside whenever she can find a ride and the time to do so. So far she’s been seven times, and according to her, each time she’s been contacted by a person who thinks they’ve seen him.

“I still have a lot of hope, I still think he’s out there,” she said.

MyPGNow has reached out to the Vancouver Police Department but have not received a response as of this publication.
