Simon Fraser Bridge construction still expected to be completed this fall

Single-bridge traffic on Highway 97 is almost a thing of the past.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure confirmed to My PG Now that the Simon Fraser bridge construction project is still set to be completed in “fall 2023.”

The bridge was originally set to be finished a year ago, but “supply chain issues delayed the delivery of the deck panels,” which pushed the project into 2023.

Despite the year-long delay, the Ministry said the project is still on budget at $20.5 million.

According to the Ministry, 18,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day.
