O’Grady road officially renamed Dakelh Ti

O’Grady Road is now officially a thing of the past.

The new Dakelh Ti – which means First Nations Road – street signs went up in the Southridge neighbourhood today.

LLheidli T’enneh Chief Dolleen Logan requested the name change two years ago, saying “The priest O’Grady was in charge of three residential schools, so he knew what was going on, he had to of known what was going on. And then they gave him an honorary doctorate.”

All properties on the street were mailed information packages six weeks ago, detailing all the changes to documentation that needed to take place as the street was renamed.
