Three Prince George wrestlers reached the podium at the U-17/U-19 Canadian Wrestling Championships in Edmonton.
Steven Herzig, a Grade 12 student at Prince George Secondary School (PGSS), captured silver in the male U-19 51-kilogram Greco-Roman division.
Haley Florell of PGSS (Grade 11) earned silver in the female U-19 80-kilogram Freestyle class.
Kelly Road Secondary’s Zenze Stanley-Jones (Grade 11) took a bronze in the female U-19 90-kilogram Freestyle category.
Herzig also placed fifth in U-19 51-kilogram freestyle.
Three other Northern BC wrestlers ended up in the top five in freestyle.
Kinsley McClure of Kelly Road (Grade 9) was fourth in U-17 57-kilogram, Kaily Pattison of Kelly Road (Grade 9) came fifth in U-17 53-kilogram, and Hyatt Verduzco of Nechako Valley (Grade 9) wound up fifth in U-17 42-kilogram.
A dozen wrestlers competed from Prince George and Vanderhoof; three from PGSS, five from Kelly Road, and four from Nechako Valley.
