The Prince George Cougars selected centre Craig Armstrong of Alberta with their first pick, ninth overall, in today’s WHL Bantam Draft.
In 34 games this season with the Airdrie Xtreme, Armstrong notched 54 points (23G, 31A) and 69 penalty minutes.

With the 21st overall pick, the Cougars selected goaltender Tyler Brennan from the Rink Bantam Nationals Program in Winnipeg.
In 16 games, Brennan posted a 1.52 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .947 save-percentage (SV%).
He was the first goalie selected in the draft.
It is the second time in three years the Cougars have taken a net-minder in the first round (Taylor Gauthier, 2016).

In the second round, the Cougars selected defenceman Hudson Thornton with the 33rd overall pick, and forward Blake Eastman with the 41st pick.
In total, the Cougars took four forwards, four defencemen and a goalie.
Of the nine players, four are from Alberta, three from Manitoba, and one each from BC and California.

Just one Prince George minor hockey player was selected in the Bantam Draft.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes took forward Fischer O’Brien in the fifth round, 98th overall.
Fisher is the younger brother of graduated Cougar Brogan O’Brien.
