NHL: 

Vancouver Canucks coach Travis Green said forward Brock Boeser suffered a concussion after being hit from behind by Ottawa forward Chris Tierney on Monday.

Boeser did not skate with the Canucks at practice on Tuesday and his status for the start of the regular season is a mystery.

Green said this is the first time the 22-year-old Boeser has been in concussion protocol in his career.

The Canucks, who have won four of their six exhibition games, host Ottawa tonight and Arizona Thursday to conclude their pre-season schedule.

Vancouver will open its regular season in one week on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd in Edmonton.

Connor McDavid did not pick up a point in nearly 20 minutes of ice time in Tuesday’s 4-2 Edmonton Oilers pre-season loss against the Arizona Coyotes.

It was the first action for McDavid since suffering a knee injury in April.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is dealing with a bruised hand.

Habs coach Claude Julien said the injury will keep the 32-year-old from Anahim Lake off the ice for a “few days.”

Price should be ready to go when the Canadiens begin their season Oct. 3rd in Carolina.

Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs is facing a disorderly conduct charge after being involved in an incident on May 26th in his hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona.

According to court records, Matthews is being charged with disruptive behavior or fighting.

The Maple Leafs have issued a statement they are aware of a “complaint of disturbing the peace” against Matthews and that he is cooperating with authorities.

Defenceman Justin Faulk has agreed to a 7-year, $45.5 million contract extension with the St. Louis Blues.

The deal was announced after the Stanley Cup champion Blues acquired the 27-year-old Faulk from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenceman Joel Edmundson and a prospect forward (Dominik Bokk).


Outhouse-Moose:

The Manitoba Moose of the AHL signed former Cariboo Cougars goalie Griffen Outhouse to a one-year contract.

The 21-year-old from Likely, B.C. played the last four seasons with the Victoria Royals.

Outhouse sits seventh in WHL history for most wins by a goaltender.


WHL: (PG Cougars)

The Prince George Cougars play their next two games against the (0-1) Royals Friday and Saturday in Victoria.

The Cougars will not have defenceman Cole Moberg in their lineup.

Moberg is out 2-to-3 weeks with an upper-body injury that he suffered in the 4-1 loss (Saturday)
to the Vancouver Giants.

The Cougars next home games will be against the (1-0) Kelowna Rockets on October 4th and 5th.

The (2-3-2) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (3-4) Alberni Valley Bulldogs Friday and the

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The (1-0-0-1) Cariboo Cougars are off this weekend.

They play again October 5th and 6th on the road at the (1-1) Kootenay Ice.

The (4-4-1) UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team will host the (5-1-1) UBC Thunderbirds Friday night at 6:00 and Sunday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.

MLB:

Baltimore Orioles  11  Toronto Blue Jays  4

The (64-94) Jays are 1-1 on a season-ending six-game homestand that continues tonight against the (52-106) Orioles.

Toronto will also host Tampa Bay Friday, Saturday and Sunday to complete its regular season.

With five days left in the MLB regular season, just one game separates three teams battling the two wild-card spots in the AL.

Oakland is 1/2 a game in front of Tampa and a full game ahead of Cleveland.

Tonight, the (94-63) A’s visit the Angels, the (94-64) Rays host the Yankees and the (93-64) Indians visit the White Sox.

In the National League, Washington clinched a wild-card playoff spot after a 6-5 Tuesday victory over Philadelphia.

Milwaukee is on the verge of clinching the last wild-card postseason berth.

The Brewers lead the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets by five games with each team having fives games to go.

NFL:

Week four of the NFL season begins Thursday with (1-2) Philadelphia at (3-0) Green Bay.

The Packers are one of seven teams at 3-0.

The others are Dallas, LA Rams and San Francisco in the NFC plus New England, Buffalo and Kansas City in the AFC.

Detroit is unbeaten at 2-0-1.

There are seven winless teams in the league. Sitting at 0-3 are Miami, NY Jets, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Denver in the AFC and Washington in the NFC.

Arizona is 0-2-1.

CFL:

The (3-10) BC Lions host the (7-5) Montreal Alouettes Saturday night at 7:00.

Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been suspended one game stemming from a helmet-swinging incident against the Blue Bombers.

He will be replaced by Matt Shiltz.

Week 16 of the CFL season starts with (10-3) Hamilton at (9-4) Winnipeg Friday (5:30 PM PT).

On Saturday, prior to the Lions-Als game, (6-7) Edmonton visits (3-10) Ottawa (1:00 PT) and
(8-4) Saskatchewan plays at (2-10) Toronto (4:00 PT).
