U-Ride awaits Passenger Transportation Board’s decision on PG ride-hailing application

Prince George and much of Northern BC are still in a holding pattern on what ride-hailing services will look like in our region.

The Passenger Transportation Board is sifting through applications and approved one company called Kabu last week to operate throughout all five transportation regions in BC including the north.

However, some companies like U-Ride are still waiting to receive the green light to expand their service into Prince George.

Founder and CEO Cody Ruberto told MyPGNow.com it’s been a long process.

“I am not sure about how they are going through making decisions on these companies because there are ones who applied early who have not gotten an answer while others who submitted later and already got an answer. I don’t what their process is, it’s been a little confusing for us.”

“Originally, we were told that a lot of these companies would be getting approval before the new year so it’s been pushed back a significant amount of time so it does drag things on, it does drag things on for drivers and then also for the public who has been waiting for ridesharing.”

Ruberto adds they want to come into the northern capital and make a difference.

Last month, Uber and Lyft began operating in the Lower Mainland.

The Passenger Transportation Board declined MyPGNow.com’s request for an interview.
