Oil Kings dump the Cougars

The Edmonton Oil Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and put the game away with three unanswered goals in the third to crush the Prince George Cougars 5-1. Edmonton outshot P.G. 43-31. The (23-33-2-2) Cougars picked up five points from their five game road trip going 2-2-0-1. Next up for the Cougars will be a home game against Moose Jaw on Saturday.

–Just one point separates three teams in the race for third place in the BC Division of the WHL. Vancouver is 3rd with 51 points followed by Prince George and Kamloops with 50. The Cougars have 12 games left, the Blazers 14 and the Giants 15 remaining. Kamloops will play Prince George
four times and Vancouver twice. The Cougars and Giants have no more games left against each other.
