The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George’s evacuation order issued on July 4 remains in effect for the Mountain View Road area near McBride after an initial debris flow occurred on Willox Creek shortly before 2am yesterday (Saturday).
Residents are asked to leave the area immediately.
“The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is conducting daily geotechnical assessments and have observed unstable slopes on Willox Creek. They advise that more debris events are probable and that it is imperative that residents stay out of the evacuation order area,” said Spokesperson Hilary Erasmus in a statement.
The timeframe for reopening remains unknown.
