Spruce Kings continue winning ways against Merritt

Andrew Seaman continues to enjoy life inside the Chilliwack Pod.

His two goal performance led the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 4-3 win against the Merritt Centennials on Monday at the Coliseum.

Kolton Cousins lit the lamp for PG at the 19:37 mark of the first period beating Centennials goaltender Josh Dias.

However, the lead was short lived as Wyatt Marlow responded twenty two seconds later to even the score at 1-1.

The floodgates opened for the Spruce Kings in the middle frame courtesy of Seaman who notched his 7th and 8th goals inside the pod three minutes apart.

That was sandwiched between a Nick Rheaume power-play goal giving the visitors a commanding 4-1 edge.

However, Merritt didn’t go away quietly mustering a pair of markers in the third from Matteo Pecchia and Josh Olson.

The Cents were unable to tie it up late, dropping their fifth consecutive meeting to the Spruce Kings this season.

Former Cariboo Cougar Jordan Fairlie picked up the win in net for PG who improves to 6-3-0-1 while Merritt drops to 2-8-0-0.

The Spruce Kings are a point back of Chilliwack for top spot in the standings – both teams play again on Wednesday at 5pm.
