Highway 16 incident in PG leads to arrest; connected to impaired driving investigation

The Prince George RCMP responded to a two-vehicle incident near Highway 16 and Vance Road this morning (Monday)

Just after 9am, Traffic Services learned of a possible impaired driver inside a black Dodge pickup truck on Highway 97 heading towards the city from Quesnel.

It was traveling at over 150 km/hr, exceeding the speed limit of 100 km/hr.

Police discovered the truck was the subject of an impaired driving complaint and rear-ended a BC Sheriff’s van.

The driver of the pickup was arrested and is currently under investigation for impaired driving and prohibited driving.

The passenger in the truck was not injured and was given a ride from the scene.

In addition, the people inside the Sheriff’s van did not require medical attention.

The file remains under investigation.

The Prince George RCMP has confirmed a two-vehicle incident near Highway 16 and Vance Road near Costco this morning (Monday).

Traffic is backed up and emergency crews are on scene.

Drivers can expect lengthy delays.

A police spokesperson said tow truck drivers are in the process of removing the vehicles from the scene.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
