Grade 10 PGSS student Tristina Howse earned a silver medal in the 80 kg Cadet freestyle division at the Canadian Wrestling Championships in Fredericton. The 16-year-old Howse beat Ashley Gravelle of Timmins, Ontario before losing in the final to Serena Woldring of Capilano.

Howse also competed in the Greco juvenile class and ended up 5th in her weight class with an 0-4 record.

–The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team had a win and a tie in exhibition games on the road. UNBC managed a 1-1 draw against Trinity Western and followed that up with a 2-0 triumph over UBC Okanagan.

–The Penticton Vees scored 57 seconds into overtime, on a goal by Tyson Jost, to post a 2-1 victory over the Nanaimo Clippers. The Clippers still lead the best of 7 BCHL Fred Page Cup final 2-1 with game four this evening in Nanaimo.

–Former Prince George & Cariboo Cougar Brett Roulston assisted on the only Clippers goal. Roulston leads Nanaimo in playoff scoring with six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 20 games.

–The Calgary Hitmen edged the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven WHL Eastern Conference semi-final series. Game four will go Wednesday in Medicine Hat. Adam Tambellini scored twice and added two assists for the Hitmen. Tambellini leads the playoffs with 19 points (including nine goals) in just 10 games.

–A pair of WHL conference semi-finals resume tonight. In the West, the Kelowna Rockets, up 2-0, visit the Victoria Royals, and in the East, the Brandon Wheat Kings, with a 2-0 lead, plays the Pats in Regina.

–The Silvertips-Winterhawks series will continue Thursday in Portland with Everett and Portland tied 1-1 in the best of seven second round series.

–The Westwood Pub Prince George Rec Hockey League has concluded its season. Results in the playoff finals are listed below.

–Samantha Thomas was the only Prince George gymnast to earn a gold medal at the Provincial Gymnastics Championships in North Shore. Thomas was first on bars in Level 6 (1997-2001). Jaymie Hinks captured silver on vault and 4th all around out of 35 in Level 7 (1997-2001).

The Prince George Gymnastics meet will be held May 2nd and 3rd.

–The Prince George Tennis Club will hold its AGM Wednesday at 7 pm at the PG Golf and Curling Club.
