Prince George Inner City boxer Kenny Lally competes this week at the Cheo Aponte Cup tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 25-year-old Lally, a six-time national champion, is entered in the 56-kilogram division.

–Kaiden Witso of Prince George lost his bout at the BC Golden Gloves tournament in North Vancouver. Witso is preparing to fight at the Provincials the May 8th weekend in Victoria.

–32 swimmers including Hannah Esopenko and David Dunn of Prince George have been selected to Team BC for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games (August 13-16) in Fort McMurray. Esopenko is one of 12 girls chosen by Swim BC while Dunn is one of four in the Special Olympics category.

–Prince George Senior Lacrosse begins a new season tonight at 8 at the PG Coliseum as the Cowboy Ranch Stylers take on the Bandits. The Thursday night game has the Northland/Nissan Assault against the Quesnel Crossfire, also at 8pm at the Coliseum.

The defending champion Westwood Pub Devils begin play next week in the five team league.

–Canada will play Sweden in the quarter-finals Thursday at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Switzerland. The Canadian team, which includes Jansen Harkins of the Prince George Cougars, finished 4-0 in round robin play. Harkins has a goal and an assist in four tournament games.

Semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday with the medal games on Sunday.
