“It allows us to connect with the community, but it’s also a goal to raise money so that we can help subsidize camp for campers who come from low income families and maybe wouldn’t be able to come out,” said Gauthier.

Gauthier said one family, Mark and Carol Stofers, raised $12,165 for the Ness Lake Bible Camp.

He added there were 27 dippers throughout the day.

“Camp has done it through -30 weather, they’ve done it a plus five. But, even though it was only -9, the wind howling off the lake made it extremely cold, I couldn’t believe it!”

“We even had a couple from South Africa, they’ve only been in Canada for three weeks. They came out, and they were invited, and they said, why not, let’s try being Canadian. And they didn’t care how cold it was, it was too cold as the wind was blowing off, but they still made it into the water.”
