Amanda Asay of Prince George is one of 18 players named to the Canadian women’s baseball team that will compete at the 2015 Pan Am Games (July 10 to 26) in the Greater Toronto Area.

The 27 year old Asay is among seven pitchers and five players from BC on the roster. She is also listed as a first baseman.

The Canadian women’s baseball team has won four medals (one silver, three bronze) in six world championship events.

PG boxer Kenny Lally has also qualified to compete at the Pan Am Games.

–Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations, Trevor Linden, announced at a news conference before more than 200 fans, that the Canucks will hold their training camp September 18-20 at CN Centre. The Canucks have staged their camp in several B.C. cities but never as far north as Prince George. All on ice sessions will be open to the public.

–The Prince George Kodiaks have concluded play at the 2015 Volleyball Canada Club Championships in Calgary. On
Tuesday, the Kodiaks 16U Boys placed 2nd in Division 2, Tier 1.

In other results, PG lost in the semi-finals in 18U Girls Division 2, Tier 2 and in 18U Boys Division 2, Tier 2.

The Kodiaks also fell in the quarter-finals in 15U Boys Division 1, Tier 4.

In earlier competition, the Kodiaks 15U Girls struck gold in Division 3, Tier 4. Prince George lost in the semi-finals in 14U Girls Division 2, Tier 3.

The Kodiaks were knocked out in the quarter-finals in 15U Girls Division 4, Tier 3, 16U Girls Division 1, Tier 4
and 16U Girls Division 4, Tier 1.

–Prince George Track and Field athletes returned home with 21 medals, including four gold, from the Kamloops Centennial Track Meet.

15 year old Lindsay King captured gold in the 200 meter hurdles and 300 meter dash.

Omar Medina took gold in the men’s 16-17 year old long jump.

12 year old Casidy Campbell earned gold in javelin and silver in shot put, discus and hammer throw.

–Prince George Senior Lacrosse resumes regular-season play tonight (Wednesday) at 8 at Kin 1 as the 4-1 BX Pub Bandits face the 1-4 Northland/Nissan Assault.
