John Herrington’s two goal performance led the way to two points in the Spruce Kings’ season opener.
Jordan Fairlie was in net for the shutout, and Linden Makow put the game away with an empty netter.

The women’s team lost 2-0 to UBC last night. They will take the field after the men on Sunday against Victoria at 2:15.
MLB – Tampa Bay Rays: 10 vs Toronto Blue Jays: 6
With 11 games left in the season, Toronto finds themselves tied with Tampa Bay for the 1st and second wildcard spots.
Yesterday was the second straight game the Jays lost to the Rays – allowing 10 runs in both.
The two teams will play twice more this season, this afternoon at 3:10 and tomorrow at 10:10, then Toronto will close the season with series against the rival Yankees, Red Sox, and Orioles.

Jared Young of Prince George went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks in the Chicago Cubs’ 6-5 victory (Friday) over the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
In five games with the Cubs since his call-up from Triple-A Iowa, the 27-year-old Young is batting .250, going 4-for-16 with three walks.

The (1-6) Prince George Kodiaks host the (3-4) Kamloops Broncos tonight at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium in the BC Football Conference.
The Broncos whipped the Kodiaks 47-17 last Saturday (Sept 17) in Kamloops.
