IIHF U18 World Hockey Championship: (in Switzerland)
Canada whipped host Switzerland 7-3 (Thursday) in the quarterfinals.
Riley Heidt of the Prince George Cougars picked up one assist for the Canadian team that has advanced to the semifinals on Saturday (10 AM PT) against Sweden.
The other semi on Saturday (6 AM PT) has the U.S. against Slovakia.
The winners play for gold on Sunday (10 AM PT).

In the East, the Winnipeg Ice will host the Saskatoon Blades in the first two games tonight (Friday) and Saturday.
In the West, the Seattle Thunderbirds entertain the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday and Sunday.

NFL:
Quarterback Lamar Jackson will become the highest-paid player in NFL history.
The Baltimore Ravens and Jackson have agreed on a $260 million, five-year deal with $185 million in guaranteed money.

Three quarterbacks were selected in the first four picks of the NFL Draft.
Bryce Young of Alabama went first to the Carolina Panthers, C.J. Stroud of Ohio State was chosen second by the Houston Texans and Anthony Richardson of Florida went fourth overall to the Indianapolis Colts.
The Texans also traded up nine spots (with the Arizona Cardinals) to select Alabama pass-rusher Will Anderson Jr. with the No. 3 overall pick.
