Just one Green Day is not enough for UNBC’s ambitions.
“It shouldn’t be one day, as it always was,” Ann Duong, UNBC’s Sustainability Manager, told My PG Now. “We should always try and think about how we can connect, learn, and act on a sustainable lifestyle every day.”
With that in mind, UNBC is hosting more than two dozen Green Day-related events from March 11th to the 26th.
Green Day Coordinator Olga Pickard said this includes everything from panels on climate change to workshops on textile repair.
You can find a full schedule of events here.
Pickard said every event is free and open to the public but interested people are asked to register for each event so organizers know how many people to expect.
“If you register, you get a zoom link,” she explained. “Wherever you are in the world, you can tune in and watch the event. You don’t have to come to the university, you can do it from your own home.”
This is the first time UNBC has stretched Green Day out into two weeks, it coincides with spring break in Prince George, they hope grade school students and their families take the opportunity to check out some of the events.
“There’s not only presentations and panels, there is also workshops and fun activities for kids as well,” Duong said. “It would be great if people come and learn what is cool about Prince George and what is happening at UNBC.”
