Prince George sets temperature high records both Saturday & Sunday

The warmer-than-normal weather in Prince George on the weekend was a record-breaker.

On Saturday, the temperature high in P.G. reached 16.8 degrees according to Environment Canada, breaking the old mark for March 16th of 13.3 set in 1947.

On Sunday, it was even warmer getting to a high of 20.2 degrees.

The previous record for March 17th was 13.3 set in 1941 and 1947.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Lisa Erven told MyPGNow.com the northern capital was one of 40 communities across the province to bask in this heat.

“Just about all corners of the province set daily temperature records. We had 40 new temperature records set on Saturday and another 38 on Sunday. It really affected all communities right across the province, some widespread heat for this time of year.”

There is a chance the temperature high record for March 18th could also fall in Prince George.

However, Erven hinted another cold-front will be sweeping across the region starting tomorrow (Tuesday), which will bring below seasonal temperatures including overnight lows in the minus double-digits.

“That’s going to drop our temperatures down by quite a bit. We are moving from almost ten to fifteen degrees above normal this past weekend to even a few degrees below normal and especially with those overnight temperatures getting into the minus double-digits, it’s going to feel quite different.”

Temperatures could return to normal by Tuesday and/or Wednesday with a bit of snow in the forecast.

The weather forecast is here.
