BC Wildfire Service responding to blaze south of Chetwynd

The Prince George Fire Centre has its first out-of-control wildfire of the year.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was discovered yesterday (Sunday), approximately 31 kilometres south of Chetwynd, near the Sukunka River.

As of this morning, the fire is an estimated 5.2 hectares in size.

The BC Wildfire Service has issued a full response to the fire with firefighters, a water tender, and a dozer.

The fire is suspected to be human caused.

A Category two and three fire ban went into place on March 28th.
