Hockey, junk, and burgers by donation: busy weekend in store for Prince George

There is no lack of activity in Prince George this weekend.

Headlining the next few days; the Prince George Cougars take on the Portland Winterhawks in games 1 and 2 of the WHL’s Western Conference Finals in the CN Centre tonight (Friday) and tomorrow.

Also at the CN Centre, the annual Junk in the Trunk yard sale will be held in the parking lot tomorrow between 9:00 and 1:00. Tire Stewardship BC will also be present, people can drop off old tires and rims to be recycled.

Northern BC Crime Stopper’s Spring Shred it event is taking place at roughly the same time on Saturday, between 10:00 and 2:00. People can have their personal documents shredded by donation, and enjoy a Mr. Mikes burger for a $5 minimum donation.

SPCA locations across the province will be holding an open house on Saturday as a part of a week-long event where adoption fees will be cut in half. Prince George’s location will be open from 1:00 – 3:00.

The national Day of Mourning will be held on Sunday, where many will gather at 10:30 at the foot of Connaught Hill by the Worker’s Memorial Statue on the corner of Queensway and Patricia Boulevard. The day is set aside to remember workers who died or were seriously injured in the workplace.
