PG to return to cold air and snow next week

Winter conditions will be making its way to Prince George starting early next week.

Monday is forecast to be the first day where the city see’s negative temperatures as the day time high looks to reach minus 3, and will continue that downward trend as the week progresses.

Environment Canada Senior Meteorologist Jonathan Bau said the effects of the arctic ridge of high pressure will be felt mid next week.

“We’ll start to see temperatures fall below seasonal temperatures, and that’s both for the overnight low and the daytime high.”

“The seasonal temperatures for this time of year is a high of minus 2 and a low of minus 8.”

Overnight lows could drop as far as minus 12 to 14 by mid week, with highs of minus 11 by the end of the week.

Snow is expected to roll through Tuesday night and into Wednesday, however, Bau said there’s uncertainty as to how much snow PG will get.

While anything can change, he said looking beyond Friday, it seems as the cold will be here to stay.

More information on the forecast can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
