A local business owner who has been vocal about the social issues surrounding downtown Prince George is taking another stab at a city council seat.

In a Facebook post, John Zukowski unveiled his election posters for the 2026 Municipal Election set for October 17th.

Zukowski ran for city council in 2022 and received 3,440 votes – 18-hundred fewer than incumbent Susan Scott who was re-elected to another term.

Well-known financial advisor Dan McLaren as well as community advocate and account executive Jesi Janjua also announced their intention to run for city council.

For the mayor’s chair, incumbent councilors Garth Frizzell and Kyle Sampson are in the running as well as local lawyer and volunteer Roy Stewart.

Stewart finished third in voting four years ago trailing Terri McConachie and current mayor Simon Yu.
