Garth Frizzell will be Prince George’s new Mayor after winning tonight’s (Saturday) municipal election.
Frizzell said the lead up to the final results was anyone’s guess.
“In this election, nobody knew what was going to happen. The polls were all over the place, and by polls, I mean there weren’t really polls, so the guesses were everywhere.”
Frizzell said to see the results come in was both a shock and real excitement.
There was also a shake-up with Councillors, which he said he has plans for wat the incoming Council will look like, and looks forward to catching up with them.
He said the next four years are going to be “hair straight back” with a lot of work ahead.
“As the main focal point for national economic development in B.C., we’re going to see at least billions of dollars of investment. We’re going to see a lot of people who are transient coming through, then we’re going to see a lot of population growth.” said Frizzell. “With that is an opportunity to improve arts, sport, culture, parks, recreation, and that’s exciting.”
Frizzell spoke on the other candidates he ran against, crediting them for their ideas, and sent a note to each of them saying it had been amazing to work with them through the campaign.
