Mild Winter Ahead? Prince George temperatures projected to climb above normal

The weather gods settled on a seasonal October for Prince George.

According to Environment Canada, the mean temperature for the northern capital was four degrees while 68 millimeters of precipitation fell – both figures on par for this time of year.

Meteorologist, Matt Albers told MyPGNow.com the start of November will be wet and balmy.

“Temperatures for Prince George should be a few degrees above normal. As far as precipitation, it looks to be a little bit showery and wet for the next week, but then after that, we move into near-normal precipitation for the middle part of November, and then on to the end of November into December, we are estimating to be below normal for precipitation values.”

“We are starting to see some of those warmer temperatures push in. And so as we go in through November and into December, those, above-normal temperatures should probably maintain itself, particularly as we move through the first two weeks of November.”

As for the El Nino pattern this winter, Albers expects warmer than normal conditions with the odd cold snap mixed in.

“They’re still going to have the low-pressure systems that come through from time to time. So, not everything is going to be perfectly nice and warm and dry. We will have the odd cold snap coming through, in between systems with, a bit of precipitation, but, nothing too drastic on the short-term radar here.”

Daytime highs are hovering around eight degrees for most of this week with rain dominating much of the forecast.
