Gas prices in Prince George continue downward slide, reach 94.9

Gas prices in Prince George have fallen at a steady pace over the past week.

Senior Petroleum Analyst with Gasbuddy.com, Dan McTeague says operations south of the border are at full strength. “Essentially you have seen no news coming from refineries since they are all running optimally at levels of production without being disrupted.”

The cheapest place to buy gas in the city is at Costco at 94.9 cents a litre.

Other gas stations in Prince George are selling fuel in the 96-99 cent range.

McTeague isn’t sure what the election of US President-elect Donald Trump will mean for the industry.

He says it could be a mixed bag.

“We don’t have all of Trump’s policies but we do know he is a dove on the issue of Keystone XL and moving oil so it could very well be there could be a boom in the production of oil getting to the United States sooner than we thought.”

Under Barack Obama’s leadership, the XL pipeline has faced many roadblocks but with the Republicans taking control that might change.
