PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars are adding depth up front.

The Cougars will be announcing that they have acquired 17-year-old forward Matthew Mosher from the Saskatoon Blades for a late-round  bantam draft pick.

Mosher, who is from White Rock, does not have a point with the Blades in three games last season and one game this season.

He was selected by the Blades in the third round of the 2015 WHL bantam draft.

The (4-5-2-2) Cougars resume action when they face the Vancouver Giants Friday in Langley.

 

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

BC Division Standings:

Victoria, 13 games = 9-3-1 (19 points)
Kelowna, 12 games = 5-5-1-1 (12 points)
Vancouver, 12 games = 5-5-1-1 (12 points)
Prince George, 13 games = 4-5-2-2 (12 points)
Kamloops, 13 games = 3-10 (6 points)

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have three road games against Mainland Division teams this weekend.

The Spruce Kings play at Chilliwack Friday, Langley Saturday and Surrey Sunday.

P.G. is in second place, three points behind Langley and three ahead of Chilliwack.

Langley, 17 games = 8-3-6 (22 points)
Prince George, 17 games = 7-5-2-3 (19 points)
Chilliwack, 16 games = 7-7-1-1 (16 points)

CARIBOO COUGARS:

A six-game win streak has vaulted the Cariboo Cougars into first place.

The (7-2-1) Cougars are one point ahead of the Valley West Hawks in the BCMML, however, the (7-1) Hawks have two games in hand.

Cariboo will host the 0-10 South Island Royals Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday morning at 10.

 

NHL:

(Leafs improve to 7-2 while the 6-1-1 Kings suffered their first loss in regulation time)

The Vancouver Canucks visit the Minnesota Wild tonight to conclude a five game road trip.

Wild forward Zach Parise is contemplating back surgery, according that could sideline him for a couple of months.

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

(Canada West Women’s Soccer)

The (3-7-4) UNBC Lady Timberwolves play the (7-4-3) Calgary Dinos Friday at 2 in Victoria.

The winner advances to the Canada West soccer quarter-finals on Sunday against Victoria.

(Canada West Men’s Soccer)

The (5-5-6) UNBC men’s soccer team is gearing up for its quarter-final game.

They visit the defending national champion (9-1-4) Alberta Golden Bears Saturday afternoon in Edmonton.

 

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

The Los Angeles Dodgers will play their first World Series game in 29 years when they host the Houston Astros tonight.

Temperatures could be in the mid 30’s Celsius.

Starting pitchers will be Dallas Keuchel for Houston & Clayton Kershaw for LA.

The average asking price for a ticket to the game is $3,164, according to ticket market tracking firm TicketIQ.

 

NFL:

The 6-1 Eagles have the best record in the league. The Redskins drop to 3-3.

There’s just two weekends remaining in the CFL regular season.

The Calgary Stampeders have clinched first and will host the West Final.

The 6-10 B.C. Lions will be the only team in the West to miss the playoffs.

The Lions visit Winnipeg Saturday before hosting East leading Toronto on Saturday, Nov 4th.
