A woodlot manager from Vanderhoof has been recognized for stewardship and marketing practices.
Clayton Foster has been recognized by the Forests Ministry for his work in the area.
Foster says he tries to do as much natural regeneration as possible, with as many innovative practices, because of the mountain pine beetle.
“To be able to sell and utilize the wood,” he says. “It’s definitely a shame to let the wood go to waste. We want to use it any way we can.”

Foster says he also tries to sell lesser quality wood to pellet mills in the area.
He received $2,500 from the ministry for his efforts.
