CUPE President says most job cuts were in aquatics department

Details on job cuts at the city are a bit more clear. CUPE 1048 President Janet Bigelow says the majority of them were in the aquatics department.

“Two full time positions in aquatics, and one irregular part time position in aquatics,” says Bigelow, “and six, all the customer service water slide attendants.”

Bigelow also says two positions in financial services were also cut. She says the cuts are concerning, now that the water slide attendants have been eliminated, lifeguards at the pool will have to watch the pool, and the water slide. She says the only heads up the union received about the changes was a one hour notice for a meeting with city staff.
