–The Prince George Cougars never trailed as they posted their first home win of the season, 5-3 over the Swift Current Broncos before 1,955 fans at CN Centre. Marc McNulty scored the winner as he snapped a 3-3 tie midway through the third period. Chase Witala notched a goal and an assist while linemate Jansen Harkins finished with two assists as the Cats got goals from five different players. Two of the Swift Current goals came on the power play. Both teams are 2-3.

–The PG Cougars visit Spokane Saturday and Vancouver Sunday before their next home game on Wednesday the 8th against Lethbridge. The Cougars also host Vancouver Oct 10th and 11th.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings play their next four games at home including a doubleheader against the Chilliwack Chiefs Friday and Saturday.

–The 3-0-1 Cariboo Cougars are in 2nd place in the BC Major Midget League, just a point behind the 4-0 Vancouver NW Giants. The Cariboo Cats host the 3-1 Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday at 4:45 and Sunday at 11:30 at Kin 1.

–The UNBC Timberwolves host TWU in Canada West Soccer Saturday and Sunday at noon and 2:15 at the Rotary fields.

–The UNBC basketball teams play pre-season games in Edmonton starting on Thursday.
