PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars announced today that 19-year-old defenceman Dennis Cholowski has been named 23rd captain in team history.

Both 19-year-old defenceman Josh Anderson and 20-year-old local forward Brogan O’Brien will wear an “A” on their jersey.

The 9-9-2-2 Prince George Cougars welcome the 13-7 Medicine Hat Tigers to CN Centre tonight and Wednesday.

The Tigers are the only team in the Central Division with a winning record.

Prince George has won its last three games, a season high.

 

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

The Everett Silvertips have released 18-year-old goaltender Dorrin Luding of Prince George.

Luding posted a 3-6-1 record, 3.64 goals-against-average (GAA) and an 0.891 save percentage (SV%) in 11 games this season with the Silvertips.

BC DIVISION STANDINGS:

Victoria, 24 games = 16-7-1 (33 points)

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

Forwards Ethan de Jong (99) and Kyle Johnson (98) of the Prince George Spruce Kings have been invited to the Team Canada West selection camp (Dec 2-5 in Calgary) for the World Junior A Challenge December 10th to 16th in Truro, Nova Scotia.

They are among 60 players, including 28 from the BCHL, that will compete for a spot.

de Jong has a team leading 31 points (nine goals) while Johnson, who played for Team Canada West last year, has 22 points (12 goals) in 27 games this season.

The Spruce Kings return to action Friday when they host Coquitlam.

The 14-3-1 Major Midget Cougars have the bye this week.

Meanwhile, the Coast Inn Midget Tier 1 Cougars host their annual tournament Friday to Sunday at the Kin and CN Centres with five teams entered.

The UNBC Timberwolves have four regular season league games left in Canada West basketball before the Christmas break, and all are on the road.

The UNBC men and women visit MacEwan Friday and Saturday and TRU December 1st and 2nd.

 

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL:

The Duchess Park Condors are seeded second and College Heights eighth for the 16-team provincial boys AA volleyball championship in Langley.

Play begins November 29th and runs until December 2nd.

 

JUDO:

The Hart Judo Academy earned six gold, four silver and six bronze for a total of 16 medals at the Steveston Judo Club annual tournament in Richmond.

Blair Walsh’s 52-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds of the game fell short.

The Falcons jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead and never trailed. Both teams are 6-4.

 

CFL:

It’s Grey Cup week in Ottawa.

The Calgary Stampeders and the Toronto Argonauts clash in the 105th Grey Cup game Sunday with kickoff at 3:30PM Pacific.

The Stamps have opened as seven-point favourites.

 

NBA:
