PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

Kody McDonald, who was traded three weeks ago from PG to PA, opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and added two assists.

McDonald completed the Gordie Howe hat-trick with a fight against Cameron MacPhee.

The Raiders broke open a 2-2 game with a goal late in the second and three more in the third.

Josh Maser, with his team high 22nd, and Liam Ryan tallied for the Cougars, who were outshot 35-24.

The 18-24-4-3 Cougars continue their six-game Prairie road trip tonight in Saskatoon.

Ben Poisson scored the only goal for the Spruce Kings who outshot the Rivermen 29-20.

Prince George, Langley and Surrey are all tied for first place in the Mainland Division.

The 23-15-4-4 Spruce Kings play tonight in Coquitlam, and Sunday afternoon in Chilliwack.

The 22-5-2 Major Midget Cougars are two points back of the (23-4-2) Valley West Hawks in the race for first place.

The 3-23-3 Royals are in last place in the 11-team league.

 

NHL:

The NHL holds its 63rd All-Star game Sunday in Tampa Bay.

The Vancouver Canucks host Colorado on Tuesday.

The 19-24-6 Canucks are second last in the Western Conference and 13 points out of a playoff spot.
