Spruce Kings drop road-trip opener in Langley

The Spruce Kings began a three-game, three-day road endeavour through the Lower Mainland Friday night.

A penalty filled second period ruled in favour of the host Langley Rivermen, ultimately beating Prince George by a score of 4-1.

Forward Ben Poisson potted the only goal of the contest for the ‘Kings, coming on a power-play with helpers from Layton Ahac and recent CJHL Team West All-Star Ethan de Jong.

Goaltender Evan DeBrouwer made 16 saves on 20 shots.

Despite the loss, Prince George remains tied at the top of the Mainland Division with Langley and the Surrey Eagles with a record of 23-15-4-4.

They continue weekend play tomorrow (Saturday), 7PM in Coquitlam against the Express.
