City crews working diligently to clear snow during massive winter storm in PG

Snow removal efforts in Prince George are in full swing with the city working around the clock.

About 30 to 40 centimetres could fall once the blizzard passes the northern capital.

Road crews are doing their best to keep up according to Senior Communications Officer, Mike Kellett.

“We’re hitting it with everything we have including contracted equipment, our staff is going at its highest capacity to clear priority one and two routes out there as we are hitting fifteenth and fifth, two of our major arterial roads out there.”

It will be a non-stop couple of days with very little relief in sight from Mother Nature.

“When the snowfall meets our threshold of seven-and-a-half centimetres, we got twenty-four seven including with contracted equipment but we have plenty of staff to go around.”

Drivers will also need to work in conjunction with crew members as the clean up continues.

“People need to be patient out there, this is Prince George and we are in northern British Columbia so some patience would be appreciated,” added Kellett.

Once the snow event ends, the city has 48 hours to get all the priority one and two routes completed.

Crews then have 72 hours within the completion of priority one and two routes to clear up the residential areas.
