Graduated Spruce King to play U-Sport Hockey

After spending his last year of junior hockey with the Prince George Spruce Kings, defenceman Chays Ruddy has committed to play for the Windsor University Lancers in Ontario for the 2018-19 season.

Ruddy notched 14 assists in 57 games and scored his first BCHL goal in Game Three of this year’s playoffs against the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The 20-year-old from Ontario was the winner of the team Fan Favourite Award.

“Chays was a tremendous competitor and leader for this us this year. He has left our program in a better place and this commitment to play U Sport Hockey is very well deserved,” said Spruce Kings Head Coach Adam Maglio in a team release.

Ruddy played a total of 151 Junior ‘A’ regular season and 54 playoff games.

He will join former Spruce King Adam Burnett with the Lancers.

Ruddy is the 11th player from this season’s Spruce Kings team to commit to post-secondary education for hockey.

Six of those players will return in the fall of this year.
