The Cougars come up a Foote short against the Rockets

The power play was the difference in the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 overtime victory over the Prince George Cougars.

The Rockets went 3/5 with the man advantage, including the winning goal from Nolan Foote 43-seconds into overtime.

The Cougars, who trailed 2-1 in the second and 3-2 in the third, went 1/3 on the power play.

Josh Maser, Jackson Leppard and Ryan Schoettler tallied for Cats, who have dropped their last three.

Taylor Gauthier made 29 saves as each team fired 33 shots.

Cougars Captain Josh Curtis, the team’s leading scorer with 10 points in 14 games, had his six-game point streak come to an end.

The Rockets and Cougars have already played four of their nine meetings this season, with each team winning twice.

Kelowna is 2-0 since Adam Foote took over as head coach and 4-1 in its last five games.

The 5-6-1-2 Cougars are third in the BC Division, one point ahead of the 6-10 Rockets and two points in front of the 5-6-0-1 Kamloops Blazers.

The Blazers won Saturday night 6-2 in Portland.

The Cougars host the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday with a special start time of 6:30.
